Phil Mickelson says he has “the deepest sympathy and empathy” for the households of the victims of the 9/11 assaults after he was criticized for becoming a member of the Saudi-funded LIV Golf tour. A bunch representing the households of victims and survivors of the deadliest terror assaults on US soil final week wrote to Mickelson and different golfers who joined the controversial new golf collection, accusing them of sports activities laundering and including that their participation in LIV Golf represents “a betrayal not solely of us, however of all of your compatriots.” The letter added that Osama bin Laden and 15 of the 19 hijackers had been Saudis. When requested about Monday’s letter, Mickelson mentioned: “I might say to everybody who misplaced family members, associates misplaced on 9/11 that I’ve deep empathy for them. I’ve the deepest sympathy and empathy for them.” Mickelson, who beforehand described the Saudi regime as “terrifying sons of bitches,” joined the Saudi tour in June for $200 million.
